WHAT IS A UNIDIRECTIONAL BEZEL?
Originally created as a useful feature on diving watches, the unidirectional rotating bezel is a functional top ring that helps its wearer track time - traditionally the amount of time (air) in a diving tank.
Unidirectional bezels are just that - unidirectional - meaning they only rotate in a counter-clockwise direction, ensuring that an accidental bump of the bezel while underwater will cause the diver to surface sooner than planned, never beyond the capacity of their tank.
WHICH SHINOLA WATCHES HAVE UNIDIRECTIONAL ROTATING BEZELS?
You can find unidirectional bezels on our dive watches - the Shinola Monster collection, our surf watches - the Duck collection, or our Runwell Sport Chronographs. While other watches, such as the Canfield Sport, have sport top rings that look somewhat like these bezels, these are to add to the sporty aesthetic without the traditional dive functionality. Only the Monster, Duck, and Runwell Sport have functional unidirectional bezels within our current collection.
