Tell us about your personal relationship with style and how it has evolved.

Someone once told me fashion is the desire to attain perfection, while style is embracing one’s flaws. I really believe this; style is about effortlessly embracing your flaws and what makes you unique.

What is your everyday jewelry look?

I mix up my jewelry quite often. I am always wearing a statement ring mixed with smaller bands. I love large hoops like the Large Lug Hoop Earrings. I like to layer long statement necklaces with small delicate pendants as well. It really depends on the kind of mood I’m in. Sometimes I want to keep it minimal and sometimes I really like to layer it up.

How did you approach developing this new Shinola Valentine’s Day-inspired jewelry collection?

Traditionally, a key is presented to a lover on Valentine’s Day as a symbol of romance and an invitation to unlock the givers heart. I wanted to play with this romantic notion by creating a lock and key that felt unique and sculptural, while paying homage to mid-century modern design.

How will you celebrate Valentine’s Day?

My husband makes it such a special day. Lots of flowers and candy, of course. He usually takes me to dinner at my favorite restaurant that I don’t get to go to often enough. Then we watch a scary movie (my favorite) even though he doesn’t like them!

What is one thing you’ve been gifted recently that is particularly meaningful to you?

My friend Christie recently gifted me a vintage Navajo broach. I am obsessed with vintage Navajo jewelry, so I treasure this gift. When I wear this special piece of history, it reminds me of the wonderful friends in my life.
