How do you make the most of every day? What things are left to cross off on your bucket list? Detroit-based, thrill-seeking photographer Joe Gall, better known as Camera Jesus, is constantly asking himself these questions. The core of his work revolves around documenting Detroit’s revival and keeping in tune with his bold style he more than delivered on this lookbook for Shinola.
Joe used products from our Father’s Day Gift Guide for this lookbook that features a helicopter, fast cars, a boat, and some of Detroit’s coolest architectural gems.
“This shoot was probably one of the better days of shooting in my life. With the helicopter we landed on a private island that only had one house on it. We stopped at a former Red Wings player’s mansion — that’s where we shot the boat,” he says. “The luxury lifestyle branding that I was trying to incorporate with these Shinola products was high-end, cool, bad ass moves.”
As a father himself to 10-year-old son, Von, Joe seems to have passed on his adventurous spirit.
“He’s always interested to see what I was out shooting and I’ll show him the finished product shots,” Joe says. “He gets the vision of what I’m accomplishing and now hes going out and doing similar things on his own like making videos, story boarding them out first and making complete products, too.”
