Meet Our Movement Leader

BY Taylor Rebhan

Born and raised on the northeast side of Detroit, Willie H. is the Movement Assembly Line Leader. His specialty on the line is oiling, but as the Line Leader he has to be ready to jump in and troubleshoot on every station. We got to sit down with Willie and ask him a few questions.

What do you find the most exciting about Detroit right now?

I feel like we’re getting back into the heyday of Detroit. I really think Shinola is a big deal. I believe that this type of industry coming here could inspire other companies and entrepreneurs to come here too.

What’s been the most interesting part of this job?

Getting to meet people from around the world who are interested in what we’re doing, and who’ve come to Detroit to tour the factory and see it for themselves. I love that there’s so much excitement and passion out there for what we’re doing. Another thing I love about this job is how closely the company owners and factory managers work with us on the line. There aren’t many factories out there where there’s such a close working relationship between employees at all levels and positions.

How has production been recently?
It’s been absolutely incredible! We recently started working on a new movement (the Argonite 705), and the team is just moving incredibly fast getting it together.

Do you have any favorite spots in the city?
To be honest, I’m a bit of a homebody, but I do like to take my girlfriend out for a nice dinner and a stroll along the Riverwalk.
