#LoveMyCity San Francisco with Leslie Santarina

BY Taylor Rebhan

It doesn’t take long to find beauty in San Francisco, but sometimes it’s more fun to discover those hidden gems that are only known to a certain few. We paired up with our friend Leslie Santarina, who runs Spotted SF, to document a few of her favorite insider spots in the city by the bay.

“The city is all hills and I love it,” says Leslie. “They’re tough to climb at times, but you’ll always be rewarded with a stunning view at the top.”

Gold Street: “So much of San Francisco is owed to the Gold Rush. In fact, you can follow gold medallions around the city to discover its historic past, including this all-brick area of of town which was the original and infamous Barbary Coast. The saloons and brothels are gone, but today you’ll find great restaurants and new shops opening up, like Shinola around the corner,” says Leslie.

Left: “Most folks know about the cable cars and the famous houses known as the Painted Ladies. But these colorful streetcars are painted ladies of a different kind, and I love how they zip and parade around the city. Just like the people of SF.”

Right, At the Farmer’s Market in the SF Ferry Building: “Local farm fresh food is plentiful year-round given the warm growing climate around San Francisco. There is so much passion for food in this city and the array of dining options and talent are endless.”

Inside Caffe Trieste, North Beach: “SF has a rich coffee culture and there are great cafés and coffee to be found everywhere. Especially good old classics like Trieste in North Beach which has served for over 50 years.”
