This summer Shinola partnered with Midtown Detroit, Inc. to open Midtown’s very first dog park. We’re happy to see so many pups and owners enjoying the off-leash space at the corner of Cass Avenue and West Canfield Street. We’re equally excited to introduce Shinola Pet, our new line of American-made pet accessories, featuring dog collars, leashes, toys and beds—a collaboration with photographer and animal lover Bruce Weber.
In tandem with the opening of the dog park, Shinola hosted a neighborhood block party on June 20th to mark the one-year anniversary of our Detroit flagship store. To celebrate we invited our friends from the Michigan Humane Society to hold a pet adoption event where three dogs successfully found forever homes. In addition to two dogs that were adopted by Shinola employees, Midtown locals Peter and Michael adopted a small terrier mix, Juno, a friendly and excitable six-month-old puppy.
The Michigan Humane Society rescued Juno from an over-crowded shelter in North Carolina. Juno stayed only 10 days in Detroit before finding a permanent home with Peter, Michael and their goldendoodle, Ernest. The trio could not be happier about their new companion.
