How to Adjust a Mesh Watch Band

BY Shinola Team

A watch with a mesh band is known to be timeless. With the ability to pair nicely with daytime casual wear while also formal enough for more upscale occasions, a mesh band watch is the ideal everyday timepiece look. And bonus, mesh watch bands can be fine-tuned for that perfect fit around your wrist. To adjust your mesh strap, we’ve created an easy-to-follow step-by-step guide on mesh watch band adjustment.

How To Adjust A Mesh Watch Band

1. Find yourself a small flathead screwdriver. Alternatively, any small pointed, yet sturdy tool will do.

2. For stability, place the watch flat on a table or any firm, flat surface. Start with your non-dominant holding the clasp still as you start the next step.

3. The front side of the clasp will have a small hole about 1⁄4 inch wide in its center. Place the screwdriver head (or pointed side of your tool) into the hole on the clasp using your tool to lift the clasp upwards to open it.

4. Start sliding the clasp up or down the mesh strap to adjust. Moving the clasp up the strap (toward the face of the watch) will tighten the strap on your wrist while sliding the clasp down the mesh strap (away from the face of the watch) will loosen the strap.

5. When you feel like you’ve found the right fit, align the back of the clasp with a groove in the mesh watch strap. The back of the clasp should have a corresponding indentation that fits snugly into the grooves.

6. Once you’ve found the best position for the clasp and aligned it with a groove in the mesh strap, close the clasp to lock it in place. You’ll hear a “pop” or “click” sound as the clasp snaps shut, securing it into place.

7. Wear your watch and mesh band to your heart’s content!

At Shinola, we make things even easier with our mesh watch bands. Comfortable on your wrist and a stylish complement to any timepiece, our mesh bracelets feature a butterfly clasp. This hidden clasp gives the bracelet a seamless look without sacrificing security. All you have to do to adjust it is slide your finger under one side of the clasp and gently pull up to release and resize.

We have a watch strap for any occasion. If you’re looking to replace or adjust other watch bands as well, check out our encompassing how-to videos on replacing and adjusting your watch straps.
