The image above was taken at the Shinola Detroit flagship store. The red backdrop is an art installation produced by Matt Shlian , a Michigan-based paper engineer with an exceptional talent for making intricate geometric constructions using nothing but paper and his own two hands. He’s made everything from elaborate artist books to kinetic sculptures, and is currently a visiting research scholar with the macro-molecular science department at the University of Michigan.
