Once Again Detroit Sets The World In Motion

The special-edition Runwell Field Watch, or RFW, is a timepiece that celebrates the Motor City’s innovation, can-do spirit, and military grit during the Second World War—and the indelible difference it made in history.

The RFW’s carbide coated Stainless steel case is six times harder, for an extra durable and scratch resistant watch. With an enhanced depth rating of 10 ATM, this rugged watch  can take just about anything you throw at it. The simple, utilitarian dial features thick printed luminous numbers and indices with a white outline —and the crystal has an anti-reflective coating for extra visibility. The new quick release nylon watch strap is also a utilitarian element of this durable watch: thicker with a heavier weight, it’s more rugged, and its square weave makes it distinct from any other Shinola nylon watch strap. It’s the kind of highly-durable, scratch-resistant, everyday watch you want on your wrist whether you’re scouting the great outdoors or rolling up your sleeves and getting the job done.

How WWII Inspired The R-F-W

The Arsenal Of Democracy

When World War II brought the world to a halt, no one responded to the call to build up America’s war arsenal quite like Detroit. Manufacturers, largely automakers, halted their production and shifted their assembly lines to whatever the country needed.

The numbers say it all: more than 368,000 vehicles, planes, and parts in less than four years—at its height, planes that previously took a month to build were made in an hour.

Relentless drive, innovation, and discipline. These are the qualities the Runwell Field Watch celebrates and emulates.

Precision, Made To Last

The carbide coating on the sandblasted, stainless steel case is so tough, it’s six times more scratch resistant. It has a 10 ATM rating—water resistant to a depth of 100 meters. The glass is an anti-reflective, double-domed sapphire crystal that’s second only to diamond in hardness.

All this durability helps protect the high-accuracy Argonite 703 quartz movement, which drives the hours, minutes, and seconds with precision.

Carbide Coated Stainless Steel Case

This carbide coated stainless steel case is built tough. With a 6x hardness rating, it's scratch resistant and highly durable. The RFW has a 10 ATM rating (capable of withstanding underwater pressure up to a depth of 100 meters). It also features a classic pumpkin crown and anti-reflective, double-domed sapphire crystal.
